Do you know the difference between tulle and gauze? Gauze’s composition is mainly, silk and cotton .Consequently, its appearance is delicate, smoothly and soft. For example, some of the Indian saris are made of this fabric. Meanwhile, the tulle is made with fibres of rayon and nylon or silk and cotton. The tulle has different density of mesh. The thinnest are used for bridal’s veils, while the most rigid are used for tutus.

Francesca Thyssen, 1981
Francesca Thyssen is the daughter of the art collector, the late Baron Thyssen-Bornemisza, and the Scottish model, Fiona Campbell-Walter. Francesca von Habsburg (as she is now called) lives in Vienna and, like her father, collects art on a grand scale. Mapplethorpe portrays her in a costume that makes her look like a woman in an early Netherlandish painting or a figure out of the Arabian Nights.
